Now What?
You should pick an animal, and then your teacher will come around and check your project idea and give you an Animal Worksheet (link on teacher page). You are now ready to begin exploring!
Start researching your animal by using the sites provided on the next page, Websites. Your job is to fill out the Animal Worksheet and then turn it in to your teacher.
After you have your Animal Worksheet filled out and your teacher checked it, you should get into groups that have animals from the same type of habitat:
- Antarctic
- Arctic
- Forest
- Freshwater
- Grassland
- Mountain
- Ocean
*Teacher Note: I would designate table groups for each topic and try to have even groups*
In the habitat groups, you and your group should put all your habitat information together and make a poster representing your habitat. It should have a picture and important elements that all the animals need and a detailed list of the traits of the habitat and anything that makes your habitat unique.
After making the poster, the rest of the project is individual work.

The next step is creating your visual element of the project. You may make a model of the animal and a poster with the factual information, a drawing as part of a poster, a trifold stand-up poster, brochure, or any other ideas may be approved by your teacher.
After everyone has made their artistic project, then you are responsible for creating a 2-4 minute presentation about your animal that you can present to the class.
Finally, the FUN part! As a reward for all you hard work you can invite a guest (your mom, dad, neighbor, friend, babysitter, anyone you want) to our class reception and presentations.
The presentations will be given individually in the habitat groups. Your group can decide the order of presenters, but someone must go first and introduce the group and describe the habitat before presenting (remember to use the poster your group made) . Or, the group may decide to split up the information about the habitat and then present individually. Have fun presenting and enjoy the reception with your classmates and guest!
Before the presentations, your teach will hand out an Animal Knowledge Quiz (link on teacher page) that tests your knowledge about an animal someone else is presenting. You are responsible for completing it while watching another presentation, and you may pick any other student's presentation that you would like to review!
